Lohagad Fort Trek
 
Lohagad Fort, perched at 3,389 ft near Lonavala, is a trekker’s delight offering an easy yet rewarding climb. Known as the “Iron Fort,” it has a rich history dating back to the Satavahanas and was later a key fort under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The trek route is beginner-friendly, making it perfect for families and first-timers.
 
The panoramic view from the top stretches across the Pawna Lake and surrounding hills, with the iconic “Vinchu Kata” (scorpion’s tail) fortification as the highlight. Best visited post-monsoon and in winter (August–February), Lohagad combines history, architecture, and natural beauty. It’s not just a trek—it’s a walk into Maharashtra’s glorious past.
